દેશમાં કોરોનાની બીજી લહેર સામે આવી છે. આ લહેરમાં પુખ્તવય થી લઈને વૃદ્ધ વર્ગના લોકો પણ સંપડાયા છે. જો કે ભારત સરકારે લોકોને રસીકરણ માટે જાગૃત કર્યા છે અને કોરોના વધુ ના ફેલાય તે માટેની તકેદારી રાખવાની પણ સલાહ આપી છે. આ કપરા કાળમાં હાલમાં આપણે દર બીજા દિવસે કોઈના દૂખી સમાચાર પર આપણે શોક જતાવીએ છે. પરંતુ રાહતના સમાચાર એ છે કે સરકાર તરફથી આપણે નવી દવા અને રસી એ આપણા જીવમાં જીવ લાવે છે. તેથી જ કોરોના સંકટ વચ્ચે DRDOએ દેશમાં એક મોટા રાહતના સમાચાર આપ્યા છે. DCGI (ડ્રગ કંટ્રોલર જનરલ ઓફ ઈન્ડિયા) એ ડીઆરડીઓની એન્ટી કોવિડ દવા ડીઓક્સી-ડી-ગ્લૂકોઝ (2-DG)ને ઈમરજન્સી ઉપયોગ માટે મંજૂરી આપી છે. DRDOએ આ દવાને ડૉ રેડ્ડીઝ લેબોરેટરીના મદદ અને સહભાગી થી મળીને તૈયાર કરવામાં આવેલ છે. લાભદાયક વાત એ છે કે, આ એન્ટી કોવિડ દવાને કોરોના વાયરસના મધ્યમથી ગંભીર લક્ષણોવાળા દર્દીઓની સારવાર માટે સહાયક પદ્ધતિ તરીકે ઉપયોગ કરવાની મંજૂરી આપવામાં આવી છે. Anticovid drug 2DG medicine: An anti covid drug 2DG known as 2-deoxy-D-glucose has been developed by INMAS (Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences) and DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation's) laboratories. They have synthesized and got the copyrights for it. The team discovered that 2 DG shows freeze the virus spread in the body, they approached DCGI (Drugs Controller General of India) for a clinical trial. In May 2020, they got permission and completed the 2 phase clinical trial by the end of October 2020; the results had an immense effect on the virus. Thereby DRGO planned to use the Anticovid drug 2DG on covid patients as the drug showed excellent results during the Phase II and phase IIb trials. After the Phase II trial’s successful results, DCGE permitted for Phase III trial in December 2020. This phase III lasts till March 2021.
