It was December 2019 when things started to change. Born of a virus in China was the talk of the town then. No one had the slightest of ideas about the standstill this virus was going to bring in the world in the coming months. World began to feel the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) from February 2020.
It was March 11, 2020, when COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by WHO. The transmission speed and the scale was one of the major reasons for WHO taking this step. So now, it was not only about Wuhan. Now, it was about the entire world. Several countries started taking tough calls to save their country and the people of their country from this deadly virus.
Steps like lockdown, cancellation of events, banning public gatherings, were imposed in several countries. People understood that they were in for a long battle. Lockdown cost numerous people their jobs. Laborers and small-scale business owners were the most affected class of people.
But, the times were such that some tough calls were necessary. Lack of knowledge of this unknown virus, no vaccine, and to prepare the medical system to fight against this deadly virus, purchasing some time by announcing a lockdown was the only solution.

So, how do we prevent this deadly virus from attacking us? How do we stay safe? Firstly, staying safe from this virus is definitely possible. Just read out the following precautions and follow them:
Make a habit of washing your hands at regular intervals with soap or sanitizer.
Avoid being a part of a heavy rush.
Avoid touching your face every now and then.
Make sure while going out you cover your face with a mask.
Don’t go out if you are feeling unwell.
Make social distancing a part of your routine, at least for time being.
Most countries have now initiated vaccination drives. Ensure you take the vaccine and prevent yourself from getting infected.
Don’t waste a minute before getting yourself tested even if you feel the slightest of symptoms.
COVID-19 has been the biggest challenge for the governments of countries all over the world. Be it protecting the lives, or covering up the economic loss that lockdown brought, everything has been a daunting task.
The pandemic has presented a whole new challenge to scientists and pharmaceutical companies all over the world. Understanding the mutant to curb the spread and preparing the vaccine to nullify the disease has been a tough challenge. But, the silver lining is that in the year 2021, most countries have initiated vaccination drives which can be a go-to tool for fighting against this virus.
Most countries have or are facing the second wave of COVID-19. This wave incorporates COVID-19 mutant which is more dangerous as compared to the first wave. This increases our responsibility of following strict discipline.

The year 2020 was a tough one. We didn’t have any idea how to fight this disease. But, this virus has been with us for more than a year now. Countries all over the world have vaccines with them. Also, people now know the importance of wearing a mask and following social distancing. Following these things with a strict discipline subside the chances of infection to a great extent. Also, the medical system all over the world has evolved a lot in one year.
Times are tough, but we will fight it together! Today, when we have vaccines, we must not fail to take them as it will increase our immune response against the virus.
